What I’m Working On: Finding My Signature Style

Hallmark coloring 01

Recently, I received a sample of Hallmark’s new Signature Style greeting cards. These cards feature gorgeous colors and patterns, many with fun sparkly accents.

My favorite card that I received was a Happy Birthday card with pink, yellow, and orange tones scattered throughout. These aren’t colors I’m normally drawn to, but something about this card design made me happy just looking at it. So, naturally, I decided to use it as a starting point for my latest coloring project!

This picture is a page from the free adult coloring book from The Togetherness Project. I used ultra fine Sharpie markers for the majority of the picture, then accented with glitter gel pens to mimic the sparkle from the greeting card. For the center of the flower medallion design, I used Yoobi’s color stripe colored pencils for a subtle shading effect.

All in all, I’m pretty pleased with the result. Since I instinctively gravitate towards blues and purples when coloring, it was nice to force myself out of my comfort zone a bit.
