ornamentals 01OrnaMENTALs Volume 1: Whimsical Mandalas is the first coloring book from Sue Chastain, the owner of SuziQ Creations. This collection of 30 mandala coloring pages includes geometric designs as well as mandalas incorporating realistic elements such as frogs, hummingbirds, flowers, and guitars. All of the pages are single sided, with the design title and a space for you to date your artwork on the back. Pages measure 8 ½” x 8 ½”.

ornaMENTALs_Vol.1_01Sue is a former colleague from my About.com days and asked me to color the design for the cover of her book. The cover design “Majestic Star” was colored with Bic Mark-It ultra fine markers in Midnight Navy, Sunset Orange, Moonstone Yellow, Adobe Orange, and Prairie Berry. It took me three nights to finish, as did the “Be My Mandalatine” design at the top of this post. This is definitely the book for you if you’re looking for a challenge!

You can purchase a copy of the OrnaMENTALs therapeutic coloring book on Amazon for $11.66. If you’d prefer a digital version of the book, you can buy it directly from the SuziQ Creations website for just $8.99.  Your print or e-book purchase also includes a bonus coupon code for 25% off additional OrnaMENTALS digital downloads.

I’m excited to announced that Sue has generously donated a copy of OrnaMENTALs Volume 1: Whimsical Mandalas for me to give to one lucky reader. To enter, leave a comment on this post stating why you enjoy adult coloring. I’ll choose one winner at random on November 2.

  16. Chronic illness and the depression and anxiety that come with it has taken away so many of my hobbies. Before getting my first book and set of gel pens, I was spending my free time just watching TV because I didn’t feel well enough to do much else. Coloring gave me something to focus on and something to soothe my anxiety. Coloring allows me to create again, and it feels great.

  26. Cherry Emlano says:

Coloring gives me the satisfaction to become a better me. When I start to do an artwork, I start to build up a story in my mind on each and every detail I color and give it life…creating a happy ending when it’s been finished. I color each artwork one at a time because not only does it encourage discipline but it gives me the fulfillment that it has been an experience worthy of doing over and over. Coloring for me means giving life to an inanimate object.

  27. Kristie dilcher says:

This book looks awesome! I love to color because it’s fun and relaxing and keeps my mind off of things that are bothering me!

  28. I went to a health fair and saw this lady coloring a beautiful design. When I inquired what she was doing, she said she was relieving stress. I needed something for stress and anxiety. She proceeded to give me some copies of coloring pages. Took them home and colored for the first time in decades. Felt very PEACEFUL and was totally relieved. I am the sole caregiver for my mother. Really needed the outlet to cope with my situation.

  29. Dianne Marlowe says:

Nothing takes me to another world, free of pain, stress, anxiety…into the world of freedom to be a child again…as Coloring Books for Adults. Ahhh.

  30. PAM Regnaud says:

One of my daughters is a single mom and I help her out quite a bit with my 5 year old grandson. Coloring gives me a great stress release and helps me to be calmer and more focused when I have him. Sometimes we color together and I think it’s helping me to be a better Nana.

  31. Melissa Pirisky says:

I’ve always loved to color but didn’t always have a kid around to color with. My granddaughter is 2 and she wants to do whatever grandma is doing. My coloring book and coloring ebooks addiction is growing and I don’t really care who approves of the way I’ve found to be creative and relax.
